What is a deep clean, exactly?
A deep clean is the thorough version of cleaning. Regular housekeeping keeps surfaces tidy and fresh. A deep clean gets into the places that regular visits skip, the corners, edges, undersides and insides where grime quietly builds.
I think of it as a reset. After a deep clean, the home is back to a clean baseline, and ongoing visits can keep it there.
What is included in a deep clean?
Every home is different, and the details get confirmed at the free consultation. But a deep clean at HarmonySync Solutions is top to bottom, and it typically covers the following.
The list below is a general guide to the kind of work involved, not a promise of a set number of hours. Homes vary a lot, and hours depend on the size, condition and priorities of your space.
- Baseboards wiped down along every room
- Inside appliances, such as the oven, refrigerator and microwave
- Kitchen buildup on cabinet fronts, backsplash, sink and stovetop
- Bathrooms scrubbed, including tile, grout lines, tub and fixtures
- Dusting high and low, including vents, window sills and ceiling corners
- Floors cleaned thoroughly, including edges and under movable items
- Carpet cleaning
How is a deep clean different from regular cleaning?
Regular cleaning is about maintenance: dusting, vacuuming, mopping, wiping counters and refreshing bathrooms. A deep clean is about removal: lifting buildup that has settled over months.
That is also why a deep clean is priced differently from regular upkeep, which is quoted. A deep clean is $35 an hour because the work is slower, more detailed and more physically demanding.
When should you book a deep clean?
Some moments call for it more than others. If any of these sound familiar, a deep clean is likely the right move.
Many people also schedule one at the start of spring, or before holidays when guests will see every corner.
- You are starting a recurring service and want a clean baseline
- You are moving in or out and need the home spotless
- You are preparing to sell or list a home
- It has been a long time since the last thorough clean
- You have had a new baby, an illness, a renovation or a very busy season
Does a deep clean include move-in and move-out cleans?
Yes. The $35 hourly rate covers top-to-bottom cleans, move-in cleans and move-out cleans. A move-out clean focuses on getting the space ready for the next person, with attention to inside cabinets, appliances, baseboards and floors.
If you are leaving a rental, you can read my move-out checklist guide for tips on what to do before the clean.
How can you get ready for a deep clean?
A few small steps make the hours count. Pick up clutter, toys, paper piles and loose items from surfaces and floors so I can reach what needs cleaning instead of moving things around. Put away valuables and anything fragile you do not want handled.
Tell me about priorities, such as a stained tub, a greasy range hood or a pet area. I will spend the time where it matters most to you. You also sign a service agreement and Home Entry Consent before the first visit.
Which rooms get the most attention?
Kitchens and bathrooms take the lion's share of time because they collect grease, soap scum and hard-water buildup. In the kitchen, that means degreasing the stovetop and range hood, wiping cabinet fronts and cleaning the inside of the oven and refrigerator. In the bathroom, it means scrubbing grout, tubs, showers and fixtures until they look clear again.
Bedrooms and living areas get detailed dusting, baseboards, window sills, vents and floors. Hours are planned around your priorities, so if the kitchen matters most to you, that is where I begin.
What if I have a very specific problem?
Tell me early. Whether it is a stained tub, a pet-accident spot on the carpet, a greasy hood or a mirror that never looks clear, naming it at the consultation lets me plan the time and approach. Some problems need extra hours, and I would rather say so honestly than promise a miracle.
I also like to hear what you are not worried about. If the guest room is basically unused, I can skip most of it and spend the hours where they count. A deep clean should be shaped around your home, not a generic checklist.
How long does it take to see a difference?
Right away. A deep clean changes how a home looks and smells, because buildup in the places you rarely see is finally gone. Bathrooms look brighter, the kitchen feels fresh and floors and baseboards look new again.
It also makes ongoing cleaning easier. Once the baseline is reset, weekly or biweekly visits can keep the home there, without another heavy scrub for months. Think of a deep clean as an investment that makes every later visit lighter.
One more tip: take photos of anything you are worried about before the visit, such as a scratched surface or an old stain. It helps me know what is already there and what I can realistically improve.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a deep clean cost in Cedar Falls?
Deep cleans, one-time cleans, move-in cleans and move-out cleans are $35 an hour. Hours depend on your home, and I confirm them at the free consultation. If your home is more than 20 minutes from Cedar Falls, a travel fee of one-way drive time at the same rate applies.
Is carpet cleaning part of a deep clean?
Yes. Carpet cleaning is part of the top-to-bottom deep clean service, along with baseboards and inside appliances. If carpets are a top priority, mention it at the consultation so the hours are planned around it and nothing important gets left for last.
How often should I book a deep clean?
Most homes benefit from a deep clean once or twice a year, plus before a move or a big event. If you already have recurring housekeeping, the deep clean can be less frequent because regular visits keep buildup from getting out of hand.
